MTI Launches New Funding Opportunity for Faculty Affiliates
Five new research programs, covering topics that range from urban mobility systems to post-disaster haelth care access, have been awarded funding under the Maryland Transportation Institute's Initiative Leader and Faculty Incentive Program.
MTI established the program in January wth the aim of supporting new research programs and labs, advance transportation research and development, and foster multidisciplinary collaboration and major external research funding. Selected faculty leaders and their proposed initiatives are supported by MTI resources and staff, with approximately $25K in discretionary funds available for each initiative.
1. Pathways for New Urban Mobility Systems (Project Leaders: Derek Paley, Deb Niemeier)
2. Environmental Stewardship in Transportation Networks (Project Leader: Allen Davis)
3. Road Transport and Energy: The Future of Technology, Markets, and Regulations (Project leaders: Anna Alberini, Cinzia Cirillo, Josh Linn)
4. Data-driven Mobility and Equity Research Initiative (Project Leaders: Vanessa Frias-Martinez, Sevgei Erdogan)
5. Development of Post-Disaster Healthcare Access and Restoration under Multi-Hazards (PHARM) Decision Support System (Project Leader: Michelle Bensi)
The program is open to MTI-affiliated tenure, tenure track, and professional track faculty members at the University of Maryland—College Park (UMCP). Joint submissions are eligible for consideration.
All proposals must contain a research plan that includes, among other components, a title and brief description of the proposed initiative; a two-year plan to develop and grow the proposed initiative, and information about initiative team members and their home departments.
