CMMM supports a broad portfolio of research initiatives aimed at improving travel safety and efficiency. CMMM funds over 40 research projects, with work covering pedestrian safety, reducing congestion, and autonomous vehicles, travel behavior modeling, education, workforce development, and more. Furthermore, CMMM collaborates across disciplines to offer infrastructure-based solutions, project finance innovations, and technical assistance to stakeholders, ensuring that research outcomes have practical applications for industry, government, and communities.
CMMM actively promotes collaboration and professional development through multi-university partnerships, advisory board engagement, educational seminars, and outreach programs for K–12 and university students. Events such as the Generative AI in Transportation workshop and the CMMM Transportation Summer Camps supported career development efforts and tech transfer by providing a platform for interdisciplinary knowledge-sharing and hands-on learning. With more than 40 funded research projects, CMMM not only advances scientific understanding and technology transfer but also prepares the next generation of transportation professionals, equipping students and researchers with the skills to tackle complex mobility challenges and contribute to data-driven transportation solutions.
